Seachem Cichlid Lake Salt

Seachem Cichlid Lake Salt is a mineral blend designed to mimic the natural water chemistry of African rift lakes (Tanganyika, Malawi, Victoria) for African cichlids, providing essential elements like calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium, but not buffers for pH/KH, which require separate products like Tanganyika Buffer or Malawi/Victoria Buffer.

It is used during tank setup and water changes, with specific dosages depending on the target lake (e.g. 11g for Tanganyika, 5.5g for Malawi per 40L/10gal), and should be dissolved before adding to the aquarium.

Key Features

Replicates Rift Lakes: Contains essential salts and trace elements found in African Rift Lakes.

Adds GH, Not pH/KH: Affects general hardness (GH) but leaves alkalinity and pH relatively stable, requiring separate buffers if needed.

Lake-Specific Dosing: Different concentrations for Tanganyika, Malawi, and Victoria environments.

Easy to Use: Dosed when setting up tanks or during water changes, not for replacing evaporated water. 

How to Use (per 40L / 10 US Gallons)
Tanganyika: 11g (1.5 teaspoons)
Malawi: 5.5g (3/4 teaspoon)
Victoria: 3.6g (1/2 teaspoon)

Important Considerations

Use with RO/DI water or measure existing hardness.
Dissolve in fresh water before adding to the tank.

For pH/KH adjustment, use Seachem's Tanganyika Buffer or Malawi/Victoria Buffer.
